Travel: Things to see and do in Boston

Travel: Things to see and do in Boston

Hub... the Walking City...Bean Town.....Boston. Whatever you call it Boston is a town full of history and character.  If you road tripping it or just flying in, there are few choice stops you should make when visiting this beautiful town.

Fenway Park

Fenway Park is home to the Major League Baseball team, the Red Sox.  It is the oldest running baseball stadium in the US and home to the infamous Green Monster. It is a must see during any visit to Boston.  We were lucky enough to tour the stadium and to see a game.  A tour of  Fenway allows you to get a picture in front of the Green Monster.

Freedom Trail

The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile path that goes through 16 different historic sites in Boston.  The Freedom Trail can be visited via a guided tour by one of the National Park Service Rangers or can be conducted via a self-guided tour using maps provided by the  park service and following the red bricks throughout the city. If want to go the self guided route, but still want to get the experience of a guided tour; you can listen to the tour on Itunes from Boston Walking Tours.

Paul Revere House

Visiting the home of American Patriot, Paul Revere, is another must see on your trip to Boston. The Freedom Trail tour stops by the Paul Revere House, but indoor tours must be done separately if you are on a guided tour. Photography is not allowed inside, but it was a great experience to tour the home and get history on Paul Revere and his family.

Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park

This park is a little gem of Boston's Historic North End.  During the summer, this park gets a fair amount of traffic and boast some pretty cute photo op locations in the daytime and evening.  I especially love the lighted arched walkway.  The park is also close to several dining options and during the summer months you can find several street performers.

Rabia's Seafood & Oyster Bar

When you visiting any state in New England, you can not leave without have a lobster roll. We stumbled upon this restaurant after walking from the Paul Revere House. Very cute and really good lobster roll to boot.

Union Oyster House

Union Oyster House is Boston's oldest restaurant and among the oldest in the country, the building being built in 1704 and the restaurant opening its doors in 1826.  The restaurant is a National Historic Landmark.  Union Oyster House is a great local to enjoy seafood and other New England classics.

This list by no means shows everything that Boston has to offer, I have been to this town more than once and find something more fascinating than the last time I visited.  I hope these sights make it to your itenrary on your trip to Boston.
